COMMS

Charter Oak is home to the Charter Oak Military Mission Squadron, also known as COMMS. COMMS is a team of students who serve as military-connected youth sponsors for our campus.

What are youth sponsors? These are military connected students who are trained in sponsoring new students as they arrive to our campus. The sponsors give tours of the school, introduce the new students to important adults, sit with them at lunch, are a buddy at recess, as well as introduce them to the culture of the school. They get to know the new students and introduce them to others who have the same interests or suggest clubs or other school activities that the new students may enjoy. The main duty of the sponsor is to make the transition to Charter Oak a seamless one and with the sponsors help, the new students will feel right at home. These sponsors help plan activities for all current active duty military kiddos on campus!
